Polymer Shutters
Polymer shutters, also known as PVC shutters, are moisture-resistant, sturdy and durable.
They feature a high-quality virgin polymer with an aluminium core, offering the look of timber shutters, with added strength and humidity resistance.

Shutter panel function:
- Hinged – swings open like a door
- Sliding – panels slide past each other
- Bifold – panels fold together on a track
- Fixed – non-opening panel for static coverage
Blade operation options:
- Centre or offset tilt rod – a traditional, classic look
- Clearview – discreet connector connecting the back of the blades
- Supatilt – hidden internal mechanism for a modern look

FAQs
Are polymer shutters waterproof?
Polymer shutters are water-resistant, not fully waterproof. They’re designed to withstand moisture and humidity, making them ideal for high-moisture areas. Thanks to their non-porous surface and aluminium-reinforced core, polymer shutters won’t warp, crack, or peel when exposed to damp conditions.
While they can handle splashes and humidity well, direct and constant water exposure (such as in a shower enclosure) should still be avoided to ensure long-term durability.
What Polymer Shutters Colours do you have?
In our polymer shutters range, you can choose a painted finish.
MYT Shutters offers 15 modern colours, plus custom options (RAL, Dulux, Resene). We use eco-friendly, water-based paints—safe for the whole family.
How do I clean and maintain my polymer shutters?
To keep your polymer shutters in great condition, dust them regularly with a soft cloth or microfibre duster. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with mild, non-abrasive soap—avoid excess water to prevent damage to the finish.
Never use harsh chemicals on polymer shutters, as they can cause discolouration or damage to the finish. Proper maintenance helps extend the life of your polymer shutters and keeps them looking their best.
Do polymer plantation shutters help with energy efficiency?
Yes, plantation shutters can help make your home more energy efficient. Polymer panels create an insulating barrier that helps retain warmth in winter and block heat in summer.
According to industry studies, shutters can reduce heat loss by up to 33%, helping lower energy bills and improve indoor comfort.
Are polymer shutters sustainable?
Yes, polymer shutters are one of the most sustainable window covering options available. Their natural insulating properties and dual closure feature help regulate airflow—tilt the blades up to release heat in summer or down to retain warmth in winter.
At MYT Shutters, we go further by ensuring our polymer plantation shutters are made responsibly. We recycle 100% of our material cutoffs, filter and reuse water, and use plastic-free, eco-friendly packaging—making our polymer shutters a smart, sustainable choice for your home.
Can I get Polymer shutters in black?
We generally advise against choosing black polymer shutters. The reason is: dark colours absorb more heat, and when exposed to direct sunlight, black polymer can reach very high surface temperatures. Over time, this excess heat increases the risk of warping—particularly in windows that receive prolonged sunlight throughout the day.
Instead, lighter and more neutral finishes are strongly recommended for polymer shutters, as they reflect heat and maintain the structural integrity of the product. This ensures your shutters will perform reliably, look better for longer, and require less maintenance.
At MYT, we design our products to withstand the Australian climate and provide sustainable, long-term solutions for both residential and commercial projects. If you’re looking for a black finish, our timber shutters are best suited, as they handle the heat without risk of warping.
